Store Detective

Store detectives are at the top of the pile when it comes to retail security, our store detectives are selected from security guards that have worked within the retail industry and must have worked as a guard for at least 5 years before stepping up to a store detective.

Reasons for employing store detectives: - large stock loss, internal theft, to detect and arrest shoplifters and to prevent the use of stolen credit cards.

Store detectives often work alone or in conjunction with a team of guards, their main role being, to detect and arrest rather than to deter shoplifters. There job is to go on the offensive, move around stores undetected without raising suspicion and maintaining visuals on suspected shoplifters, if a theft is then committed the store detective will follow the suspect until such time as he/she can make the arrest, the store detective may have the assistance of security guards or he/she make the arrest alone.

Not all shoplifters will be happy to return to a store to be arrested and in some cases will resort to violence; this is where we believe Allied have the edge, our store detectives are trained in conflict management and arrest procedures, statement writing and interview and investigations.
